One pot spaghetti sauce

Ingredients

Sea Salt
Cracked black pepper
1 lb of ground beef
1/2 lb of bacon
1 large onion
5-6 sprigs of fresh thyme (optional)
6-8 cloves of garlic
2 tsp oregano
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon sugar
6-8 large basil leaves (optional)
1 parmesan rind (optional)

Steps

  1. Chop bacon and brown in pot. Remove bacon and set to the side. Leave the bacon grease in the pot.
  2. Add in your ground beef and brown. Sprinkle in a little salt at this time (about 1/2 tsp) to season in layers.
  3. Once the beef is browned, add in onions. Sprinkle in a little bit more salt, and if using fresh thyme, add those leaves in now.
  4. Once the onions are translucent and fragrant, add in garlic for about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add in the oregano, and stir to combine.
  6. Add in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Stir to combine.
  7. Sprinkle in the sugar, and a little more salt, and add pepper in now. About 1-2 teaspoons depending on preference. If using fresh basil and parmesan rind, add in now
  8. Cover and let cook for about 30 minutes. If using instant pot, cook on slow cook for at least 30 minutes.
